by D. E. Gray

David E. Gray spent forty-two years in law enforcement before becoming a writer. After he retired in late 2008, he sat down and began writing his first book, The Warrior in Me, which took him almost a year.

Now that Gray wrote his first nonfiction book, he decided to write his first fiction book, True to the Blue. Even though this book is a work of fiction, it is based in part on a true story and follows the hardships of a Los Angeles police officer who is unjustly fired from the force for protecting the identity of an East LA gang member turned confidential informer.

His third book titled Eclipse of the Blue: For Greater Glory is about a group of twelve retired LA cops, eight men and four women, who decide to pull off the perfect crime to regain some of the glory they used to enjoy before they were put out to pasture. Their real motive is to show the younger breed of cops that the old dogs still have what it takes to outsmart them at their own game and not get caught.

Next came Gray’s fourth book, titled Conflict in Blue: The Marissa Ortega Story. The book continues where his second book True to the Blue left off and follows the daughter of a police officer who was killed by a gang thug when she was a small child. Now she is an LAPD officer herself and out to get even with the gangs who terrorize her community.

Desperate Measures: The Chase Longmire Story is Gray’s fifth book. It follows a veteran LAPD detective who discovers he has incurable brain cancer and only has six months to live. He Devises a plane to return to patrol and commit suicide by thug so his family can collect on a 1.5-million-dollar life insurance policy. His plan runs into a snag when his captain teams him up with a new female police officer trainee.

Gray’s sixth book, Gumshoe: The Walter Sunderland Story is again based in part on true events and follows the life of an LAPD Patrol sergeant who is fired from the job after he is arrested for rape under the color of authority and sent to prison. After getting out, the very woman who accused him of rape was now the prime suspect in the murder of her ex-husband and was pleading for his help in finding the real killer. Together, they deal with their mistrust for one another while sparing with her ex-husbands new wife and the LAPD detectives who are assigned to investigate the case.

Gray’s newest book, Talking Out Loud: The Casey Hoghupper Story. Casey Hoghupper, a six-year veteran police officer working LAPD’s 77th Division has a secret. She has a guardian angel that no one else can see or hear but her. The problem is, the other officers in her division only see her, “Talking Out Loud” when no one else is present.

Question? Is the stress of the job causing her to lose her mind?

The captain of her division along with city psychologist, Althea Bianchi, are tasked with finding out if she is still fit to “Protect and to Serve” the citizens of Los Angeles.
